Build Warmth. Change Lives. One Sleep Pod at a Time.

Bring your team together and change lives with a Sleep Pod CSR event. Colleagues collaborate to assemble one-person emergency shelters that protect rough sleepers from wind and rain, giving your team a shared purpose and a tangible result that can be in use within days.

The session opens with a short briefing on UK homelessness and how Sleep Pods help people living on the streets. EML facilitators and charity representatives explain how the Pods work, why they matter and how they’re distributed, setting a tone that mixes fun with focus.

Each Sleep Pod is a lightweight, insulated, one-person shelter built for emergency use in severe weather. Rainproof, windproof and reusable, it creates a microclimate that stays around +6°C even when outside temperatures fall to −16°C. Built from thermal insulation materials, the units are designed for rapid assembly and practical use by outreach teams where protection matters most.

Working in pairs or trios, colleagues follow clear instructions, demonstrations and quality checkpoints, building with care and attention to detail so every Pod meets distribution standards.

Sleep Pods aren’t a long-term housing solution. They’re an emergency intervention that offers warmth and dryness in critical moments, and they help outreach workers build trust and connect people with services that support a path toward stability.

At the end of the session, completed Pods are collected by the Sleep Pod charity for quality checks, then distributed free of charge to partner organisations across the UK, who use local knowledge to get them to people with the greatest need. Refined since 2018, the design means Pods built by your team can be put to use almost immediately, often the very next day.

All materials and tools are provided on site, and the event scales to suit most group sizes and schedules, blending purpose with professionalism.

Outcomes of the Sleep Pods team-building event

Being one of our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) event, the objectives of the session are clear: follow instructions, maintain standards, work safely, and complete your pod to the very best of your ability. Along the way, colleagues strengthen collaboration, empathy, and accountability while doing something concrete for people in crisis.

The session works best indoors in a clear space of around three metres by two metres per pair or team, although we have run the session outside on a clear flat lawn in the summer – though this is not ideal. Guests work on the floor or at tables. Sessions start with a short introduction, move into the creative challenge phase, and culminate in the supervised build, testing, and sign-off of each Pod. Everything needed is provided on the day.

When your colleagues assemble a Sleep Pod, the result is not symbolic; it is a durable shelter that can save lives and is delivered at no cost to the recipient. Your team leaves with pride, stronger connections, and a deeper understanding of how practical action creates hope. A Sleep Pod build event and turn collaboration into comfort, dignity, and protection for those facing the elements alone.
